Hi
Hold - A Performance / Installation
This colossal inflatable art structure is another unique design created by Massey Fine Arts Professor, David Cross. The 20m x 9.5m x 6.5m inflatable had it's first outing at the Great Hall at Massey University in Wellington last week. Participants enter the pitch black tent, where unable to see where they are going, must rely on the assistance of the arm of a silent and anonymous performer located within the structure. Participants must then negotiate their way around a small ledge 3.5 metres above the ground. To fall is very possible but yet safe given the air inflated crash beds at the base of the structure. This project is another prime example of Canvaslands capabilities to manufacture one off, unique structures of any size, shape or form.
"Hold" Inflatable Construction
The Canvasland team in action during construction of the unit. The local event centre was used to house the massive structure during manufacture. The stair case to the ledge can be seen at the right end of the inflatable, while the black enclosure where the performers are hidden is being attached.

"Hold" - Set Up
A second portion of the structure is the inflatable frame which holds the skin to cover in the unit. This photo was taken during the set up at the Great Hall at Massey University in Wellington

Hold - Complete
The finished product with skin cover attached. A total of 5 fans are used to inflate the entire structure and a massive 755 mtrs of material was used to construct it.

Winter Weather Protection
During the winter months we have a team dedicated to installing a variety of weather structures around homes, cafes, bars, restaurants and business wanting to increase their indoor area and provide a versatile space for all year use regardless of the weather. Outdoor curtains are a very popular product that can be custom made to fit most areas. Canvasland has a variety of systems available from manual roll or wind up, through to electronic or remote control. These curtains were installed at a local beach house recently. Our client wanted to make the most of the view from his patio area which overlooked the estuary but wanted to cut out the cold wind.

These curtains were installed at Te Kairanga vine yard in the Waiarapa. The curtains provided a more versatile use of the verandah area.

Inflatable Tooth Brush??
We were recently approached by a professional comic entertainer who wanted an inflatable toothbrush for one of his acts. Our response "sure......why not?" An air tight tube was developed and a digitally printed bristle portion was attached. The weight and balance of the tooth brush were quite specific as it will be swung around the performers neck as part of his act.

Control Panel
This giant sized control panel will be connected to an electronic game consol which is part of the Horizons (Manawatu City Council) environmental road show. Participants will use their feet to select the buttons to manouvre their way around the game. A keyboard is fitted inside the PVC skin which has had the symbols weilded onto it.
